The vision of the CO2 Performance Ladder perfectly matches our purpose. It is a tool that helps companies and organisations make their business processes more sustainable by reducing their CO2 emissions and then communicating about this transparently. We help companies with our services, so it is only logical that we also look inwards and really take action. We set challenging targets and obtained level 3 certification on the CO2 Performance Ladder. This demonstrates that our raison d'être is more than a promise. We also put our money where our mouth is.

What is the CO2 performance ladder?

The CO2 Performance Ladder is a certifiable management system that is currently being widely integrated into public procurement. Contracting authorities want to use it to reduce CO2 emissions in the construction sector. The CO2 Performance Ladder was developed in 2009 in the Netherlands on the initiative of ProRail. Since then, the railway operator has been actively using the instrument as an award criterion in public procurement in the construction sector.

CO2 performance ladder: catalyst of sustainability

Companies wishing to be certified by CO2 Performance Ladder must significantly reduce their emissions. This involves paying attention to (transparency about) our mobility and our work locations, such as offices, temporary sites, etc. Certification is also sometimes used as a criterion in government contracts. With this certificate, we further propagate our vision of sustainability in our services and internal operations.

We have prioritised several measures at Antea Group, each contributing to achieving the CO2 reduction target. We list the most important ones:

  • Leased car fleet 100% electric - by 2029
  • 10% of the fleet is zero CO2 emission - by August 2023
  • More than 75% green local power in offices - by 2024
  • 10% of shorter air journeys replaced by train journeys

It doesn't stop here. We may be entering Step 3, but we have the ambition to climb higher. The full collection of measures we plan to take to achieve this can be found below.
