The risk of flooding and drought will only increase due to climate change. Cities and municipalities therefore need to handle water smartly. Giving space to water, maintaining groundwater levels and retaining, reusing, infiltrating or buffering rainwater locally are just a few ways to do so.

Antea Group maps the vulnerability and risks for your municipality under different scenarios. We use that knowledge to develop advice for policy frameworks and design effective solutions. But, we also try to inform and enthuse cities and municipalities about water-related opportunities. The goal? Climate-proof water management and a liveable environment for their inhabitants.

Our approach

When drawing up a rainwater and drought plan, we always start by taking stock of what is there. We focus not only on the built environment, but also on nature, agriculture, recreation, infrastructure, ... An overall picture in which we then try to interweave as much as possible in the vision phase. From the start, we involve stakeholders and partners in the process in order to develop an integrated and supported vision of the water system. Citizens are also involved and informed about the importance of a rainwater and drought plan and the resulting measures. Because when everyone is on board, you achieve more.
