Green-blue estate as heart of inclusive living environment

Antea Group was tasked, in close collaboration with the project architects, with designing a phased residential development within the urban area of Dendermonde. The ambitious construction program included both homes for sale and rent. Our role was multifaceted: from the design of the subdivision, public space, landscape, and infrastructure to the coordination of the entire process. The goal? A high-quality, landscape-integrated, and sustainable public space that seamlessly connects with the existing urban and green-blue fabric.

We created a unique design that establishes diverse living environments within a climate-resilient green-blue structure. The street profiles provide room for trees to grow, while a distinctive green-blue zone with walking decks and playgrounds gives the central residential area its character. This space encourages interaction and connection. Additionally, as part of integrated water management, we implemented a central wadi, essential sewer infrastructure, and expanded the watercourse's buffer capacity. Smart integrations of boardwalks, cycling and walking paths, and a Finnish running track make this project a valuable addition to the urban public space and an enrichment of the neighborhood.
