Recently, Prime Minister De Croo and Minister of Energy Verstraeten visited the site of Fluxys' brand new pipeline. It will serve as an extension of the gas network and also meet the need to be less dependent on energy imports from Russia. In time, this pipeline can also transport hydrogen. In record time, Antea Group carried out the engineering dossier and the permit process for this 44-km "pipeline of the future" between Desteldonk and Opwijk on behalf of Fluxys.

Smooth licensing process

There was a very tight deadline for this project because of Germany's energy supply. Antea Group completed the study for a 44-kilometre pipeline in record time, allowing the environmental permit to be applied for within 6 months. This is considerably faster than the usual lead time of 16 to 24 months for a project of this size. This allowed the construction of this pipeline to start a lot faster than usual.

The success of this project is due to the seamless cooperation between the various teams within Antea Group. We worked jointly on the drainage study, the Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) and the environmental conditions relating to the discharge of the drainage water, including environmental coordination.

Major milestone in gas network expansion Fluxys

The successful expansion of Fluxys' gas network is a first and an important step towards a sustainable and reliable energy infrastructure. Antea Group remains committed to future projects that contribute to a green energy future and strives for further cooperation and innovation within our field.
