Shared mobility in residential areas

Shared mobility is an important step toward a sustainable modal shift. Fewer private cars mean less demand for roads and parking spaces, creating more room for greenery and quality of life. But how can we make shared mobility more attractive than private cars? Through this Green Deal, we aim to make (electric) shared mobility in residential areas the norm for local governments and project developers by 2027. This ensures that everyone in the neighborhood remains mobile while public space is used smartly and sustainably. We do this by conducting positive experiments, performing research, and sharing knowledge, with attention to shared interests.

Within the Green Deal, we focus on:

• Knowledge exchange with the Netherlands: Together with Antea Group Netherlands, we facilitate knowledge sharing on shared vehicles in real estate projects.
• Active communication: Each quarter, we share progress and insights from the Green Deal through our network.
• Research into car ownership: We analyze the factors influencing car ownership in residential areas and adapt Dutch best practices to the Flemish context.
• Collaboration with signatories: We share expertise on parking needs and parking ratios in residential projects.
• Contribution to focus groups: We participate in focus groups on parking policy and the integration of shared mobility.
• Tailored advice: In our mobility studies for residential projects, we inform clients about shared mobility possibilities.
