Port of Antwerp is committed to the transition to a circular and low-carbon economy. In order to achieve this goal, they’re working on a cross-sector CO2 reduction process.

Feasibility study of CO2 pipes

We carried out a detailed feasibility study commissioned by the Port of Antwerp in 2019. Among other things, we examined the technical possibilities for the implementation of a CO2 infrastructure for Carbon Capture Storage (CCS) applications, as well as the feasibility of a central pipeline network for the capture and transport of CO2, along the refineries and chemical industry on the right bank of the port.

Consortium Antwerp@C

In the same year, the Antwerp@C Consortium was founded: Together with seven leading chemical and energy companies, the Port of Antwerp will investigate the potential to halve CO2 emissions in the port of Antwerp by 2030. The consortium will focus on the technical and economic feasibility of the CO2 infrastructure, in order to make an important contribution to the climate objectives through the capture, (cross-border) transport, storage (CCS) or reuse (CCU) of CO2.
