City of Antwerp approved the preliminary design of Pomppark Zuid on 8 July. This park is a preview of Ringpark Groene Vesten, part of De Grote Verbinding. The preliminary design is the result of an intensive co-creative process. The central themes? More greenery and water, liveability, cleaner air and less noise.

Pomppark Zuid

The preliminary design of Pomppark Zuid came about after an intensive co-creative process, in which design choices and progress were discussed in various project teams, workshops, Ring Days and bilateral consultation moments. This resulted in a supported preliminary design with an implementation budget of almost EUR 10 million.

Now that the preliminary design has been given the green light, the project team can soon start working on the definitive design of Pomppark Zuid. After drawing up the final design, the technical elaboration of the plans and the application for an environmental permit, the first works can likely start in the course of 2024

Ringpark Groene Vesten

Pomppark Zuid is a part of Ringpark Groene Vesten, which in turn is part of De Grote Verbinding which then consists of the Oosterweel link, 7 ring parks and a Scheldt bridge. The aim of this ambitious project is to greatly improve the quality of life in Antwerp. The aim is to connect the neighbourhoods on both sides of the ring road.

For Ringpark Groene Vesten, the full landscape design was approved in summer 2021. This was commissioned by AG Vespa, by the partnership BUUR Part of Sweco - Latz+Partner - Greisch - SWP, in collaboration with Antea Group and Levuur. Within this project, our colleagues provide expertise in infrastructure, ecology, energy, water and soil, making Antwerp a liveable and climate-proof city again.
